The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a full-day meeting on January 4 to hear the work report of the leading Party groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, The State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Jinping Xi presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

The meeting pointed out that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee has listened to the work reports of the Standing Committee of the NPC, The State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee every year, which is an important institutional arrangement for upholding and strengthening the Party's overall leadership. Practice has proved that this institutional arrangement is conducive to the Party's overall leadership and coordination of all parties, to maintaining the Party's unity and strong combat effectiveness, and to leveraging the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. This meeting is the first time that the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee has listened to the work reports of the five Party groups and the work reports of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee after the 20th National Congress of the CPC Central Committee, and the purpose is to uphold and improve this system.

The meeting held that since the 20th CPC National Congress, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, The State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate have adhered to the guidance of the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly upheld the authority and centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, earnestly studied and implemented the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, and performed their duties and responsibilities in the overall work of the Party and the country. We earnestly strengthened the self-improvement of the Party Group, earnestly fulfilled the responsibility of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party, made positive contributions to promoting economic development and maintaining social stability, and achieved new results in all aspects of our work.

The meeting held that since the 20th CPC Central Committee, under the leadership of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the new Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee has taken the initiative, earnestly performed its duties, and done a lot of effective work in promoting the implementation of the decision-making and deployment of the CPC Central Committee, strengthening the construction of intra-party regulations and systems, and guiding the construction and reform of groups and groups.

The meeting stressed that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and is a key year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
